The young home decor brand that recently climbed to number four on the list of Amazon’s Top Sellers has hired Stacey Renfro, the seasoned executive with 25+ years of progressive growth and leadership in the industry, as its new CEO. Renfro will be leading the brand through an aggressive and, in the end, successful global strategy as it continues to catapult itself into a worldwide leader in the home decor industry. mDesign is the go-to for stylish home storage and furnishing solutions to help organize life.
Renfro likely caught the eyes of executives at mDesign due to her intricate work leading the relaunch of Pier 1 Imports’ online business. Renfro’s impeccable leadership and innovation resulted in the brand’s growth skyrocketing to $450 million, a 15-fold increase from its $30 million figure from just five years earlier.
Bob Immerman, mDesign’s chief innovation officer and the original founder of the best-selling digitally native brand, said that he is more than confident in Renfro’s leadership ability and that her wealth of experience driving impressive results for companies in a variety of fields will help her lead the charge at mDesign, bringing similar success to his organization. “We are excited to have her on board for what will be an incredible and monumental journey,” Immerman said.
Renfro also noted the impressive growth that mDesign, known as MetroDecor to those who shop and buy mDesign products on Amazon’s marketplace, had already achieved prior to her arrival at the company. She pointed out that in the five years since the mDesign’s winning home furnishing and storage solutions launched on Amazon, its unmatched scaling of the US marketplace’s top sellers list was a powerful show of the expertise behind the brand’s ability to understand their customers and truly deliver the product that they most want and need. Renfro expects mDesign to experience that same type of growth in the coming months and years and is “proud to lead this company” through that prosperous period.
Prior to accepting the Chief Executive Officer role and beginning her work with mDesign in August 2020, Stacey Renfro was Vitamin Shoppe’s executive vice president and chief digital and customer experience officer. While at The Vitamin Shoppe, she was accountable for digital, marketing, creative, and overall customer experience across all channels in this role. Her leadership also drove the brand’s growth and transformation by focusing on quality, expertise, the art of specialization, and innovation. Renfro’s employment at Pier 1 Imports preceded her time with the nutritional supplement provider. Throughout her 25 years of experience leading e-commerce- and omni-channel-related efforts for several organizations, she’s also received accolades many times over. These include being named one of the Top 10 Women in Retail Technology (2016) and one of the Top 10 Women in Retail (2017).
mDesign plans to have its curated collection of products deliver function and beauty to more and more homes worldwide under Renfro’s tutelage. Its contributions currently include items as varied as bathroom accessories, furniture for any purpose, and all things storage.
